Trivia Hints 12/26/12: Post Christmas Hangover

Heeeyyyooo! The train's pulling into the station, last stop trivia town! Ok, not my strongest ice breaker, forgive me. We are absolutely having trivia tonight, same place and time. Joe and Mike are your hosts this evening, newly engaged (!) Noah takes a well-deserved break from the action.

Sports Page, 7pm. Free to play, bring your friends!

Hints:

Sound Round - In honor of wrapping up the year, all the songs will be about ending. "End" will be in the title of all the songs.
Image Round - What is the connection?

Example:

A subway, chipotle peppers, Norm MacDonald, dominos. The correct answer for this photo would be they are all fast food restaurants. Get it? Cool. More of these tonight.

Congrats to Unisex Toliet for slaying the competition last week with our holiday themed event. The duo took first place with 31 points last week proving strength in numbers isn't always necessary.

Also, here's the winning sketch from last week's Draw Santa contest. Team Snowflake was the victorious team. Missing from the photo is the after work sketch that truly put it over the top. Oopsies.

Okay, let's make some more memories tonight, 7pm! See you there.

Meow. Let's do this?

Time for another rollicking Wednesday Night Trivia at the Sports Page. Hopefully everyone is preparing for tomorrow's festivities with a hilarious night of question-asking and heavy drinking tonight.

SOUND ROUND: Bands/Song Titles with Food or Drink in the name

IMAGE ROUND: Popular Movies featuring memorable food scenes.

Nothing too obscure with either of those categories. Also, as an added bonus, we may even consume some food LIVE ON STAGE*!!

(*We don't have a stage. But then again, all the world's a stage when you're having fun. I may be drunk right now.)

PS - Unfortunately, Michael will not be hosting tonight with Joe & Noah. He will return next week, hopefully sporting his all-silk track suit.

Winners from last week: "Call of Booty". Well played.

See you guys next Wednesday!

Live Blog 10/17!!!

What's up y'all. Mike here. Live blogging the crap out of this trivia tonight. See how this goes.

- My favorite trio. The cold cut, obviously.

- I never got to see Alex Karras play football, but he was a hell of a TV dad. Top 3 dads who adopted African American kids ever.

- Do we really need to see the Vikings play in Vietnam?

- I hope the Yankees just get destroyed tonight folks. 19-2 Detroit is this gent's prediction. Let's see how it plays out.

- Did you guys just boo a history question? Gayus? I'm sure he never got picked on. Joe just called biopics sexy. Have movie biopics been sexy since JFK or Harry and the Hendersons? Didn't think so.

- Holy crap! There was a Twins player that worked at the Sports Page? Trivia is all about learning. Maybe Christina Aguilera's dad, the closer?

- Pop music is weird. Don't get me wrong, I love it. Taylor Swift, Carly Rae Jepsen, Gangnam Style, etc. Why do I like bad things?

- Break time. What a highly contested..um... contest so far. We're in for a good one, folks. It's anyone's ball game. Cliches a plenty. Forgive me. I'm trying my damndest to add some substance here. Obviously, killing it.

- Guys, real talk here. Ned and Brady are the coolest people in this room. I just got a cupcake for being here. Best day ever?

- Sorry for the volume on the tunes this evening. I don't have my computer tonight. I'm using my brother's smut machine and didn't realize you had to turn the volume on the computer as well as iTunes to play music loud.

- Forgot about this. I got distracted by booze, onion rings, and cupcakes. Priorities, friends. Rain delay in Detroit is kind of a bummer. I like to pronounce Detroit as De-TWA. I love the French, it's in my Asian blood.

- Theme nights were discussed. I wish everyone could hear us brainstorm our ideas. From Taylor Swift night to WWE wrestling night, complete with an image round of us performing wrestling moves on one another. I'm putting someone in a figure four leglock.

- Fun fact, Seinfeld is being played at the Sports Page right now. Closed captioning on one tv, closed captioning off on the other. I can confess I've only seen one episode of that show and didn't think too highly of it. I also hate the theme diddy they use.

- I don't understand heckling sometimes. We just asked the undefeated team question and someone heckled "that team sucks!" Um...they haven't lost yet. Opposite of sucking, heckler, but thank you for hanging out with us.

- Hmm...this reminds me why I don't tweet.

Saw this for the first time today and I can't get the image out of my head.

- My least favorite song ever is Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'". Noah just revealed to me the equivalent to him is the song "Your Love" by The Outfield. I revealed to him, we can no longer be friends.

- End of round 2. Break and grading time are upon us. I like reading your intentionally bad guesses. I've got to bring more prizes to award good incorrect answers. Add it to the "to-do" list.

- I just mispronounced the name Melchior/Melichior. Forgive me. He was my least favorite and probably least wise man.

- The girliest looking Hanson boy has 5 kids. Believe it. Ok, let's end on that note. Good hang guys, let's do it again next week. Congrats to Kempy's for a dominant performance. Ok...see ya.

Finding new ways to waste your time,
Mike Manosack

9/18 Hints and notes.

Wednesday night, 9/19, 7pm, Sports Page Trivia. We're ready, you should be too.

Hints:
Image Round - U.S. or French? Flip a coin to decide!
Sound Round - "Fall" songs. You know, cause it's autumn time. This is a Joe Hanstad (remember him?) production.

Last week proved to be pure dominance by Karate School Dropouts and their winning score of 35 points out of a possible 38. Very close showing for 2nd and 3rd place with every other team in the mix.

Mike and Noah will be your hosts. Our friend Cory will be running a marathon in a few weeks for the Children's Tumor Foundation. He'll also join us as our guest DJ this week. Joe may be in the house as well to say hey if he's not knee deep in books and loose women.

This is Cory. You can win him next week. He doesn't believe in sleeves.

Come, hang out, and bring your pals to see if you can reign supreme!

PROGRAMMING NOTES:
Next week (9/26) is our big charity trivia event for the Children's Tumor Foundation. It will be a standard formatted trivia night with a few fun surprises added in to help raise a little cash to help with the research of neurofibromatosis. Mike, Noah, and Cory will all be in attendance and will all be available for auction for dates!

Please join us on 9/26 as we try to raise some money and awareness for a fantastic cause. Here's a link to the organization: www.ctf.org.

Here's a direct link to the team page if you wanted to be super kind and just donate to the cause now:

Hints, news, blurbs.

Connery is pumped for Wednesday nights.

Back to the standard trivia fare today. We're always looking for fun ideas for themed trivias in the future. If you ever have any suggestions or ideas, shoot us an email at nerdyfellas@gmail.com. Hopefully you all enjoyed our football themed one from last week. It was definitely fun to put together. We sure had a great crowd help us kick off the NFL season.

Kudos to Team Dragon Hawk (or Hook, depending on who you ask) for their first victory, well done! It's been great to have you in the winner's circle. Winners photos and previous trivia questions will be up sometime this century. Stay tuned!

Hints for tonight -

Image Round: TBA
Sound Round: Finish the lyric! (We've done this one theme once before, let's see if rehashing it is twice as exciting.)

Fun, Free, 7pm tonight at the Sports Page.

Our next special trivia event will be on 9/26, when we auction off ourselves to raise some money for the Children's Tumor Foundation. More details on that as it draws closer. Just keep a mental note if you were so inclined, that you can win dates with your favorite Wednesday night trivia hosts!
