Hints 1/2/2013

Happy New Year! First trivia of the year and it's going to be a theme night. Everything will be about the year that was 2012. It'll be beneficial to know a lot of the big names and new events that occured last year as that will be the focal point.

Image Round: Movies of 2012
Sound Round: Songs of 2012

All three of us will be there tonight, as should you! Sports Page, Bloomington, 7pm, tell your friends!

Also, make sure to check our year end awards right below this post. It may kind of, sort of factor into our bonus prize tonight.

2012 Year End Awards!

Hey gang! Here's an attempt for us to connect with you. We compiled a best of the year list for 2012. Your trivia gang came up with our favorites for 20 different categories. Feel free to comment on here or at trivia with your thoughts!

1) Movie

Joe: Dark Knight Rises. Amazing ending to a brilliant story.
Mike: Moonrise Kingdom. Beautifully done, quirky, charming. Loved every second of it, outside of the fish hooks scene. That hurt my tum-tum.
Noah: 21 Jumpstreet.

2) TV Show

Joe: Breaking Bad takes the crown this year, but The Newsroom get my nod for best newcomer.
Mike: Catfish on MTV. Loved the movie, translated into a really fun, addicting show.
Noah: Tie: Luther/Louie.

3) Actor

Joe: Daniel Day Lewis in "Lincoln", although Leonardo DiCaprio in "Django Unchained" is a close second.
Mike: Aziz Ansari makes me laugh every time he's on screen. That's charisma, folks.
Noah: Nick Offerman.

4) Actress

Joe: Amy Adams in "The Master"
Mike: Zooey Deschanel.
Noah: Emily Blunt.

5) Song

Mike: Carly Rae Jepsen "Call Me Maybe" (click to play) This song ruled my year. Honorable mention to Grimes "Oblivion". It was a good year for female Canucks music.

6) Band/Musician

Joe: One Direction. Heard my first song here at trivia, that's gotta count for something, right?
Mike: Mumford and Sons. Huge year for these boys. I was into it.
Noah: Beach House.

7) YouTube Video

Joe: "Gangnam Style" blew up for a reason. Weirdest 5 minutes of my life.
Mike: Dancing with an iPod in Public. Technically, the video I'm referencing was from Nov. 2011, but he's made a couple follow ups and I didn't see this video until this holiday season. It's a feel good video unlike that S. of a B. called Psy. Don't judge me.
Noah: Scare Pranks. Tie with DJ Steve Porter's videos.

8) Website

Joe: Reddit. If Facebook and Craigslist fucked and had a kid, this would be it. Sort of.
Mike: Facebook. Outside of  Ericsrepair.com, the official car care provider of Wednesday trivia, I'm probably on Facebook the most. It's a daily visit. FRIEND ME!
Noah: Profootballtalk. Tie with dailymail.uk

9) Internet Meme

Joe: Overly Manly Man. Bullocks!
Mike: McKayla is not impressed.
Noah: Jay Cutler smoking. Tie with Grumpy cat.

10) Video Game

Joe: Tetris for iPhone. Good night.
Mike: WWE '13 for XBox 360. It's the only one I played for more than an hour outside of Noah's choice.
Noah: WWF No Mercy for Nintendo 64. Bringing it back.

11) Phone App

Joe: Twitter. Instant news. Revolutionizing information as we know it.
Mike: Temple Run. So much potential productivity lost.
Noah: Instagram.

12) Athlete

Joe: LeBron James. MVP, Champ, Finals MVP, Gold Medal. Love him or hate him, Sports Illustrated nailed this one.
Mike: Anthony Tolliver. Sentimental favorite. I miss him more than anyone should. Noah and I got to meet the Tollipop this year and it was a definitely a personal highlight for 2012.
Noah: Adrian Peterson.

13) Sports Moment

Joe: Vikings beat Packers to get into playoffs. Runner-up: Parise/Suter sign with Wild on July 4th.
Mike: Vikings make the playoffs! Rollercoaster of a game, a lot of fun, a ton of anxiety, and now we technically have a chance for the Super Bowl.
Noah: Eli Manning to Mario Manningham Super Bowl connection.

14) Hottest chick

Joe: Kate Upton. Unbelievable
Mike: Olivia Munn.
Noah: Jennifer Lawrence.

15) Hottest dude

Joe: Ryan Gosling. The Baby Goose until further notice.
Mike: Ryan Gosling. Biggest no brainer ever.
Noah: Anderson Cooper.

16) Restaurant

Joe: Tilia. Good stuff.
Mike: Blackbird Cafe. 38th and Nicollet. Check it out.
Noah: Lucky's 13. Great beer specials and nachos are great.

17) Drink

Joe: Crispin Cider. Crispin + Ice = nothing better. Except for sex. And even then...
Mike: McDonald's Iced Coffee with Vanilla. I wake up too early and I needed a jolt one day. Bought one of these cups of sugar and caffeine and have been addicted since.
Noah: Angry Orchard.

18) Person of the Year

Joe: Psy. Dominated all of 2012. Against our better judgement.
Mike: Victoria Soto. Truly heroic teacher who sacrificed herself for the safety of the children of Newtown.
Noah:  Teachers, students, authorities, families, etc. who lived through the Newtown shootings.

19) Person/Place/Thing/Idea that seemingly dominated our trivia questions

Joe: Taylor Swift. Let's make a pact - No Swift in '13, deal?
Mike: I used to write weekly Jersey Shore questions, but I feel like we probably give too much attention to pro wrestling. That being said, Wrestling themed trivia sometime in 2013! Believe it!
Noah: Psy. No more after this mention.

20) Trivia Moment

Joe: Bachelor Auction. You boys got bought!
Mike: Christmas, the remodel, charity night were all fantastic but I what I will remember most is my struggles with reading. I tend to talk fast and I recall practicing so I wouldn't slip up when saying the word "buttonhole". Of course, I end up messing it up and reading the word as "butt hole".
Noah: Debut in the newly remodeled room.

So there it is, that's 2012 for us. Did we forget anything? Let us know! It was a fun year hanging out with all of you guys and we're ready to bring on 2013 with all it has to offer. It's time to make some new memories at the Page. Take care, gang!

Trivia Hints 12/26/12: Post Christmas Hangover

Heeeyyyooo! The train's pulling into the station, last stop trivia town! Ok, not my strongest ice breaker, forgive me. We are absolutely having trivia tonight, same place and time. Joe and Mike are your hosts this evening, newly engaged (!) Noah takes a well-deserved break from the action.

Sports Page, 7pm. Free to play, bring your friends!

Hints:

Sound Round - In honor of wrapping up the year, all the songs will be about ending. "End" will be in the title of all the songs.
Image Round - What is the connection?

Example:

A subway, chipotle peppers, Norm MacDonald, dominos. The correct answer for this photo would be they are all fast food restaurants. Get it? Cool. More of these tonight.

Congrats to Unisex Toliet for slaying the competition last week with our holiday themed event. The duo took first place with 31 points last week proving strength in numbers isn't always necessary.

Also, here's the winning sketch from last week's Draw Santa contest. Team Snowflake was the victorious team. Missing from the photo is the after work sketch that truly put it over the top. Oopsies.

Okay, let's make some more memories tonight, 7pm! See you there.
